Commodities Leverage
Nov/090

“Why buy the cow when they can get the milk for free?” ?
..Explain how it is not blatantly obvious that this commonly used statement is an allusion to women leveraging sex as a social commodity used for bargaining with men in exchange for social gain?
(whether that social gain is relationships or money or affiliation blackmail- whatever)
____
Dannygirl was the user who most recently said it (about 3 questions ago today) so I’d expect and as well appreciate for her to answer here as well.
_____
Type the search in to google and it returns 2.59 million results — suggest that no, the majority of women don’t feel this ideology is outdated or necessarily offensive. Women actually feel this way.
_________
“Who can blame a guy for keeping a girl around who sleeps with him ‘without expecting anything in return’ ?”
http://blogcritics.org/archives/2005/07/29/082826.php
… hmm, ladies- this statement suggest that this woman (and possibly many others) feel that they should get something ‘in return’ for sex. .. ? ?
I do see it as a genuine aphorism which serves to do just as you say, i.e. to clarify that young woman can and do leverage sex for gain of any sort.
In some circles it’s a religiously driven concept which attempts to advance marriage and discourage promiscuity, but in general, I concur that it’s a statement of truth wherein young women are socially much more desirable and thus can use their looks to get places where men simply cannot.
I’m not sure that it’s a bad thing since we all use our talents attributes to get the best we can in terms of gain. Professional athletes are exploited for their talent and paid very well for this, so I suppose since women are, indeed, extremely attractive they will always have this option. I would be lying if I said that I can’t help but take special notice in incredibly attractive women.

The Leverage Space Trading Model (Hardcover) $43.43 Praise for The Leverage Space Trading Model "As Warren Buffett said, `It`s only when the tide goes out that you learn who`s been swimming naked.` We now know that most have been. It`s too bad that Ralph Vince did not finish his book in 2005 or 2006, it would have helped save institutional investors and our nation trillions of dollars; few people understand the rewards of leverage and its inherent risks like Ralph. As we found out, most hedge funds and banks use leverage without knowing how to quantify its risks or rewards. This book is a must-read for anyone using or being responsible for risk. Leverage is one of our greatest empowerments."—Salomon Konig, member of the board of directors, Hedge Fund Association, Partner and Chief Investment Officer, Artemis Capital Partners, LLC "Ralph Vince is almost alone in his study of trade sizing, but that doesn`t mean he isn`t right. Traders should read this book."—Euan Sinclair, option trader and author of Volatility Trading "As we`ve seen recently, the gross misuse of leverage has been a hard lesson for institutions. But position sizing is critical to the success of all traders, big and small, and Ralph Vince brings fresh thinking to an area that badly needs it. He challenges the status quo and makes you think about what you`re doing. He attacks the major flaws of MPT. There is no doubt that you`ll benefit from Ralph`s ideas."—Perry Kaufman, author of New Trading Systems and Methods, Fourth Edition and A Short Course in Technical Trading "If Ralph Vince writes it, I read it…every word, every thought this guy has produced has led me to additional market profits. Money management is clearly the way to the kingdom of wealth in the investment world and Ralph gives you the keys in this book."—Larry Williams, trader, fund manager, and author of Trade Stocks & Commodities with the Insiders |

The Commodities Investor (Paperback) $18.8 Commodities make the world go around. They feed, drive and help manufacture a plethora of everyday items. In 2007/08 the world`s population witnessed the commodity story reaching epic proportions. Rising demand, coupled with limited supply as well as volatile stock markets, all merged into a perfect storm to push up the cost of resources and agricultural commodities across the globe. This soaring want and need for everything from oil to gold, from corn to natural gas sent markets, investors and the media into a frenzied state. But many believe this occurrence was not just random hyperbole – demand for energy, metals, both precious and industrial, alongside agricultural commodities, especially from the vast populations of world`s emerging economies, such as China and India, was insatiable. The aim of this book is to help private investors understand the story and themes driving the major commodities in the primary resource sectors energy, base metals, precious metals and agriculture |
