questions for commodity broker? it is livable to be on commision based?

Posted by admin | commodity brokers | Monday 8 February 2010 1:49 pm

my guy got a new job as commodity broker but on commision based after 3 months, the company cut off the basic pay. he said right now he has 7 clients and will bring more later on. but he told me that it is hard to get paid to survive especially he just started in this field and was learing to trade. He depends on his coworker to help trading and was learing and just started to trade himself. but it seems financially he did not get paid well so far as it merely to cover his expense. is that really true? how much a commodity broker make if everything went well? how they get paid? paid by weekly? or monthly? how they caculated?i mean in general? as he is in trouble and asking for my help financially in order to stay with this job until he can started making money and he is very confident with that… since i do not know how they get paid, just wondering if what he said is true???? please help..i really appreciated..

Being in commodities – well, that’s a tough market to be in period. You don’t get as much action as if you were on an equity or fixed income desk. But to answer your question, the reason why he stopped making a salary is that his company doesn’t want any fixed expenses and that he should have learned the ropes by then. I assume his job is taking calls from other brokers or cold calling people to get them to buy gold and stuff but the bottome line is he needs to expand his client base. He should attend a lot of meetings and other functions outside of work to build his network. he should also build his network by LinkedIn and Twitter and stuff too. If he’s accessible, he’s able to make a deal. it’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it.

Oh – I almost forgot. Commissions are charged when a trade occurs, sometimes up front, or on the round turn (a buy/sell transaction). Commissions are racked up and totalled – most likely they’re paid monthly. Some companies pay last month’s commissions over the following month (weekly or biweekly)- so it’s like a paycheck except the company makes more money in interest.

For you, as a wife/gf of a commodities guy, you need to be patient. In time, the money will be there, but it’s also how hard he works to get it as well. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to see a head trader get over 100K a year. Or more.

Good luck!

Which schools have futures trading courses with commodity seminars from professional futures traders ?

Posted by admin | commodity trading | Monday 8 February 2010 1:49 pm

I’m a graduated student about business administration . Now I’m looking for some futures trading courses with commodity seminars and day future trading seminars from renowned professional futures traders.Do U know where teach options trading courses that will give me the trading mindset of being a pro-trader ?

hi My friend! i don’t know how long you have been graduated about business administration. i also don’t know where you live now, therefore, it seem to be hard for me to give you good advices. however, i have some advices for you to consider as below:

1. how much time you tend to spend per day for your study ( b/c most of graduated students have to spend time for working and get experiences) if you don’t go to work now, just go to the university that closed to you and register a course about trading. i believe that there are a lot of Professional futures traders inside.

2. in the case you go to work now, it means you don’t have much time to attend in class. you can register an online course about trading. do you know Larry Levin, a Pro trader who have generated more than $1,900,000.00 in just the past 4 years trading S&P futures. He also provides online course about futures trading. So, if you want to study at home, just go to Google Search, then type the keyword:
"futures trading seminar from Larry" or other keywords similar like that, you can get a list of links that lead you to his courses. finally, you can choose the best one for you.

good luck!

What are the major risks involved when trading in For-ex (long & Short)? Is the risk more if traded online?

Posted by admin | online commodity trading | Saturday 6 February 2010 2:11 am

I wish to know more about dealing in Fo-rex (Online). I intend to use the facility provided by iForex.com through their portal. I have some knowledge in Equity trading and gained in the past but I have very limited knowledge in foreign exchange and commodity trading.

If any one of you have traded in forex and lost a lot of money your advice will really be helpful and can give me the required insight before I get into forex.

Thank you for your reading!

I have been trading through FXCM for the past few months, and it’s no walk in the park. They recommend trying a practice account for three months solid before you put real money into it. You are usually leveraging quite a bit of money when you open a position, and you can see your account empty in a heartbeat. So far I don’t see myself doing well in this. I know a few individuals who claim to be making money, but they’re the exception. I’m not experienced in trading equities, so I can’t give you a comparison, but usually when I open a position I’m already so far behind in the spread that it would take an abnormally large fluctuation just to make a small profit. If you have a lot of money to put down, you can make a small goal of a few pips a day and maybe make a good return though.

I have heard that some people only trade on the first Friday of the month when the BLS report is released. I guess if you play your cards right you can make a living betting on the non-farm payroll, but I have a 9-5 day job, so I wouldn’t know about that.
